Review of We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies
We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies has many different plotlines, with two of them being the main ones. One of them focuses around Galen Bray, who traveled from the Land of the Princes to Voulhire to inherit his uncle's fortune, settle down at his new home, and learning how to forge. Galen gets on a boat to go to Voulhire, and when he gets there, he meets the mayor, who told him to go to an inn for dinner. While Galen was at the inn, he meets Rowan, his executor, and thanks him over and over again. Then, Rowan helps Galen to get his money and also helps him to learn how to forge.
The other plotline in the story is about Hillport and the lord of the place, Lord Eldus. The original lord of Hillport was arrested for his crimes of doing things against children, and was replaced by the magistrate, Meldorath. Then, Lord Meldorth was also arrested, and Lord Eldus became the new lord of Hillport. During his time there, Lord Eldus tried to investigate the crimes of Lord Ordin and fix them.
I think that Matthew Tysz does a great job at describing the events in the book and keeps it simple enough while also detailed enough for the readings to fully understand what is going on the the book.
A few things I don't like about the book is how the chapter titles are a bit inconsistent, with some being a name and a short phrase, some being a full name, and some being just the first name. I would advise keeping the title just all full names as to keep everything consistent. Then there's also the problem of perspectives. The book has both 3rd person and 1st person point of view, and I think that it is better to stick with just the 3rd person point of view. These are, however, minor things that don't affect the readability of the book. What I think is a big problem, however, is how the book jumps from places to places without any pattern. I do understand that the author is trying to help keep the story in a chronological order, but it is hard to read back and forth between two different plots.
Besides that, this book is well edited and easy to read. I give this book a rating of 3 out of 4 . The only problem I have with this book is the jumping of places, since it is quite difficult to keep track of which is which, and I don't always read chapter titles. Otherwise, this book is amazingly written and I would recommend We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies to mystery and suspense lovers.
