Homecoming is one of soon to be many books in a series about two young boys named Kata and Tau. Here, after a huge accident that happens in their home lab, they soon escape from the wreckage and along the way, try to survive. They run into many obstacles and flashes from the past, but after everything, they go from being projects of the lab, to gaining lasting freedom thereafter. The book takes place deep in the future with much improved technology and the like. The author of the book, Jude Austin, does a really great job of portraying that environment while still telling an emotional and pretty dark story.

Let`s go over the positives. As I have said before earlier, the author manages to get the environment of futuristic technological society down pat. But I think the most positive aspect of the story is the tight friendship between Kata and Tau. Throughout everything that happens in this book, the friendship Kata and Tau remains the heart of the story. You can really tell how close they are and how deeply they care for each other. Even I started to care deeply for those two as time went on.

Now, even though there are a lot of positives, like anything, the book is not perfect. Around the first few chapters, the book just kind of drags on. I know that sometimes in some properties, a recap or something is needed to get the viewer or reader back up to speed on what`s been going on lately, but that`s all it felt like earlier, especially during the first chapter. But when things start picking up, it gets going. Other than that, the book`s fine for the most part.

I give this book a rating of 3 out of 4. The one star missing is because, like I said earlier, the book really drags in the beginning. But it does pick up.Reading this has definitely gotten me into the book series as a whole. I can`t wait for the next book.

If you`re really into science fiction and futuristic stuff, I highly recommend this book. I must warn you though, it does have a lot of cussing, so if you`re sensitive to that type of stuff, just stay away and move on. This book is clearly made for adults. Jude Austin did a fantastic job with this book. I cannot recommend this book enough.
