Galen Bray's wish to escape his war-torn hometown is answered when Rowan, his uncle's executor, comes looking for him. He discovers that the uncle he never knew he had bequeathed his forge and little fortune to him. Now, he must show his appreciation by being the best blacksmith that the town of Magnum Caelum has ever seen. His quest for the much sought-after beautiful white iron for his forge marks the start of an adventure whose end no one knows.

Whilst Galen is experiencing the beauty of Voulhire for himself, a force whose intention towards Voulhire is sinister at best is brewing in the dark, waiting to be unleashed. Meldorath, the most feared and revered wizard is dead (so they say), but knowledge of what he could do if he were alive still causes chills to run through the blood of Voulhirians.

We Are Voulhire: A New Arrival Under Great Skies by Matthew Tysz is a fantasy novel that depicts magic, adventure, and science quite beautifully. This book is the first in the We Are Voulhire series. A good part of the book is written from Galen's point of view, while the rest is written from a third-person perspective. I found myself getting drawn to scenes or chapters whose focus is Galen and his adventure more than I did other parts of the book. I do not know why this is the case. Maybe it is because of Galen's innocence or maybe it's because I got to see Voulhire through his eyes. Whatever the reason, I'm not sure, but I found out that these scenes are my favorite thing in the book.

I am supposed to write about what I like least about the book or its negative points, but the thing is that I do not dislike anything about the book. It was professionally edited, there are no grammatical blunders (to my knowledge) and most of all, the book was an interesting read, interesting enough to make me what to read its sequel. As far as negatives go, there are none for me.

Because of the features outlined above, We Are Voulhire: A New Arrival Under Great Skies by Matthew Tysz gets four out of four stars. It deserves it and nothing less than that. I recommend this book to fans and lovers of fantasy and magical fiction novels. I don't think that this book is suitable for readers below 16 years because of the violence and death that was vividly and graphically described in the book.
