Black Soul Eater by Bryan Nyaude is about a man called Rave whose soul has been stolen from him by Shovan, another soul eater. After Rave's soul is taken away from him, he has changed into an immortal soul eater as well. As he has turned into this monster, he is exempt to feel sympathy, love, happiness, and many other human feelings. Rave is tired of being a monster and being trapped in darkness and misery as he is haunted by sleepless nights and hallucinations. The only thing that can cure his current situation is to find a book called The Book of Legends. The Book of Legends has the only incantation that can help Rave to get his soul back, the only hope that can help him free himself from the monster that he had become. In the Black Soul Eater, we follow Rave who travels to the cursed city of Ore, a nightmare filled with haunting monsters of all shapes and sizes. Rave searches the city of Ore to find the hidden Book of Legends. On his way, he struggled and battles with dark magical monsters and encounters a lot of ups and downs while he discovers new foundings.

Black Soul Eater is a science fiction and fantasy book mixed with dark magic, monsters and also contains some horror elements. Black Soul Eater is the third book in the Legacies of Monsters series. The book is written in the first-person point of view which shows us the feelings and thoughts of the main character. The thing I found profoundly good about this book was that how each chapter left me with a question that made me want to read the next one as soon as possible. I also enjoyed the grey main character. Rave was a great character, mixed with good and bad intentions and I admired his genius plans as I did not see them coming. I found the plot engaging as I couldn't put down the book from chapter six. This book contained many action-packed scenes which motivated me to read more and more. One of the things that I liked about this book was the existence of different kinds of monsters, that each were unique in their own ways.

Unfortunately, I found the writing style a bit unclear, some sentences were long and complex. In some parts of the book, I felt like the author was telling us the story rather than showing us. For example, on page forty-four, "The strength of the creature was truly incredible", was a sentence that told us how the creature was. Bryan Nyaude could have shown us that the creature lifted a massive block of pure silver without flinching, and we would have understood the creature's great strength. Also, I found some parts of the book confusing and felt the need for more details about the surrounding. Don't get me wrong there were great descriptions in some parts of the book but I couldn't imagine it to the flesh . In my opinion, the world needed more detail to set the mood and evoke emotions better. The cities were exciting as each of them had different rules and interesting people but I believe the story needed more details and more showing than telling us as I couldn't feel the atmosphere and the mood of the cities. The ending was a bit confusing and some questions remained unanswered which I believe is because there will be a next book in the series.

I give this book 3 out of 4 stars because I found the plot amusing as I couldn't stop reading to see what happens next. I deduct a point because of the writing style that sounded a bit confusing and I feel like there was more space for explicit details. If the author looks for improving his book, I recommend another round of editing. I found more than ten errors and the author could have done a better job to show us the story than telling it. I believe if the errors get fixed, this book is an amazing book, full of adventure and plot twists that keeps you in awe. I would love to re-read the book after its errors get fixed.

I recommend this book to readers who like science fiction and fantasy mixed with dark magic, monsters, and a dash of horror. Readers who enjoy fast-paced and action-packed stories filled with combats scenes will enjoy this book. To add that, this book contains graphic violence during its combat scenes. Overall, I enjoyed reading this book.

Sounds like a really interesting book, I'll have to keep an eye out for it! Did it seem like a stand-alone type of book, despite being part of a series? Or would you recommend reading previous books before diving in?

You can read it as a stand-alone but if you want to have a better grasp at the story and the atmosphere, it's better to read the other two books as well. :D Thank you for reading my review!

This sounds like a fast-paced, suspenseful book. It's too bad that there is not enough "showing" and too many errors. Thanks for your wonderful review!

I think I will pass on this book—one monster would be too much for me! :D

Thank you for reading my review. I have also never read a book with monsters but, it doesn't seem to bother me. :)
