We are Voulhire: Someone Else's End is a medieval-themed fantasy novel by Matthew Tysz. This is also the third sequel of his “We are Voulhire'' trilogy. The author’s world of Voulhire is made up of three multi-universes: Cosmos (a physical universe), Caromantics (a magical universe), and Alitheia (a spirit universe). Voulhire is the most advanced human nation in the Cosmos. Wilhelm Arcolo, a merciful and kind-hearted king, had been ruling there for nearly 25 years.

When the Emperor of Lullabies, a mysterious master of the shadows and a ruler of the land which surpassed Voulhire, used his immense power to create a civil war on the Lands of the Princes, many refugees escaped seeking asylum to Voulhire. However, the Voulharian moral obligation of not interfering with the Emperor's intentions made it difficult to provide advocacy for foreign refugees, which resulted in the historic case known as "Shore against Soulhire."

Galen Bray, a humble blacksmith from the Lands of Princes, came to Voulhire as a legal heir to his great uncle with the aid of Rowan Van Asher from Soulhire. After confronting the demonic attack in Virko along with his friend Demetrius, they set out on a journey to Soulhire to inform the King of certain events.

Meanwhile, the former Voulhire Army General Dalehei Meldorath was lurking in Yamon Soul as a new eiodi, attempting to obtain King Javikun’s documents to enter Caromentis and seeking vengeance on King Wilhelm for ordering his execution for treachery.

This third book is based mainly on the Voulhire rivalry and how Voulhire is engaged in the Emperor's forces' uprising as well as Riva Rohavi, the residing archenemy. This is a relatively short fantasy novel that mostly fixates on Voulhire’s political conflicts and changes. Every character was portrayed in first and third-person perceptions by the author. Although this Voulhirian universe is completely an imaginative work of art, the author does have strong fundamental concepts and perfectly interconnected characters. The author's representation of a topographic map of Voulhire on the first page and reference guides at the back of the book were useful in understanding the plot for a newcomer. Also remarkable are the portrayals of main character developments and phenomenal plot twists.

Despite the author's best efforts to put the newcomer at ease by including a reference guide, I quite often struggled to keep up with the complex storyline and phrasing, causing loss of interest in the plot traction and frustration. Since the book is not individual, I felt like reading only a small portion of something bigger and incomplete. Truth be told, I expected to find thorough interpretations of myths and mystical combat moments rather than political monotony here. For a newcomer to the Voulhire universe, the book was not convincing enough to preserve my interest in the upcoming series.

Throughout the book, the author frequently used vulgar words, which may be upsetting to some sensitive readers. Furthermore, even in the first 20 pages, I found numerous grammatical and spelling errors. Unfortunately, I have to rate this book 2 out of 4 stars because it fell short of my expectations.

Even though this book isn't my taste of choice, I'm certain that the Voulhire fandom is going to love it. For those interested in this book, I strongly recommend you to read the previous two books and first get acquainted with the universe of the author. Otherwise, it would be a waste of time and one might end up missing the thrill of tasting an exceptional whole new fantasy world.
