We are Voulhire: The Fires of Virko, written by Matthew Tysz, is a story of a mythical world of might and magic in Virko, a city in the kingdom of Voulhire ruled by Lord Venden. The story centers upon the sick and dying ruler of Virko Lord Venden, while his son Hans is in line to take over the leadership of Virko. It is a tale of friendship, betrayal, demonic invasion, magical spells, and spectacular battle scenes. It was indeed a thoroughly enjoyable read with interesting characters and well-structured development of the story.

I appreciated the interesting characters and the way the writer structured the story using them. The adventures embarked upon by them are quite interesting particularly the visit of monk Demetrius and Galen to the ailing Lord Venden, the ensuing assignment he hands to them to rid his house of a demonic presence which he believes to be adversely influencing his son Hans. The element of the use of magic spells and commanding power was very well detailed and engaging. The book was well-edited, and I did not observe any typographical errors the grammar structuring was done very well.

There were several profane and vulgar words used in the book. This strong language is inappropriate for younger audiences especially those in their pre-teen years. The vocabulary used could have been subtler. Also, I felt there should have been more development of the story before it was concluded in the book.

I would rate this book 3 out of 4 stars because I had a lot of fun reading this book, I liked the style of storytelling which was interesting, vivid, and captivating. There were good characters with such unique personalities on the backdrop of the culture in the city of Virko and Voulhire as a whole. The attack and fight scenes were described in detail and caught my attention while painting a clear picture in my mind. The reason I have not rated this book 4 out of 4 stars is because of the strong language used and also I would have preferred further development of the story before it concluded.

This book is very interesting and engaging and should appeal to readers who like adventure and fiction within the age range of 18 to 38, it is great story on the fantasy world of might and magic. I would not recommend this book to those under the age of 18 because of the strong language used.

I just started reading this book and I wanted to see how different it is from the first book. I enjoyed reading your review, so thank you for giving me a bit of insight on the second book of the We Are Voulhire's series.

Thanks for your review! I've read three of the books so far, and I think this might be my favorite one. Of course, this might change later on.
Yes, I do agree about the development, but I think it's leading up to something. Guess we will have to wait and see.
