Official Review: The Silent Moment by Shannon Lee Martin

The story starts with an old man being trapped somewhere by someone and jumps into a baby being born and growing up ,turning into a monster, right into a doctor being turned into a fish after a surreal mental process implanted by the old man, then to Herman who is a total mess and his friend Pete who is apparently a master of some kind of the virgins. I am aware of the fact that this summary makes no sense. But for my defense, neither does the whole book.
The language is as confusing as it gets. The plot is even worse. The book needs thorough editing and proofreading. But that is not even the main issue. The auther is definitely a creative one. Very creative. She is full of ideas and she is pretty unique. But she tried to squeeze in a dozen different stories in 288 short pages, and this makes the book very hard to follow and very confusing to read.
Another issue I had with the book is that there are so many characters in the book and none of them remotely likable that I did not care one bit who died and who lived. I could not identify with the characters so it got pretty boring really fast for me. The same problem with the stories being squeezed in 288 pages applies to the characters being squeezed in the same number of pages. Because of this , the author could not introduce the characters to the readers properly.
I have to give this book only 1 out of 4 stars because as it is , it is not enjoyable. It has a lot of potential to turn into a great book or several books as the author has ideas. However, one can not benefit from this book at any level. It does not teach, it does not entertain, it does not make you ponder, it simply does not arouse any emotions in the reader. I also strongly suggest that anybody who might be interested in reading this book should be 18 or older as there is extreme violence and sexual content involved.
