We are Voulhire: The Ascension of Akistry is one of the books in the series ‘We are Voulhire’. In this book religion and belief is questioned. We see two sides of a religious battle field happening. The influence we see that the religion has in this book is so great that it is seen in the military and their way of fighting, politics and, in everyday people. Needless to say, every aspect of every day life has been influenced by what the Voulhirians call Destinism.

The book begins with Galen having a dream or one could actually say a revelation from the Emperor of Lullabies. The conversation he has with the Emperor pushes Galen to take upon himself a quest to overthrow the Eiodi (the head of the practiced religion in the kingdom of Voulhire). But does he succeed? Open the book, then read to find out. On his quest, we get to see how exactly religion affects the people in Voulhire and those that do not truly believe in it.

On the other hand, the author reveals the struggle for power that exist between the King and his chancellor. The author makes these two characters play mind-games with each other throughout the book. The two main stories, despite being independent of each other, lead to one of the most frantic, unexpected and dramatic endings I have ever seen. Once again, the author Matthew Tysz of We are Voulhire: The Ascension of Akistry did not fail to shock me.

So, what did I absolutely love about this book? Well, the answer is completely simple. I absolutely loved the fact the author managed to keep one story throughout the book, but had it told clearly in two independent paths. This is because there are not so many books that can birth such brilliance. I unquestionably can not pinpoint anything I did not like.

The book series; We are Voulhire, has a very good editorial team. Needless to say, this book, being part of the mentioned series, was extremely well edited. I did not find any problem with the grammar as it was perfect. As a result, I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars, anything else would be a disservice.

Before I can give any recommendations. I adhere to every reader to remember that this is a fiction novel and not to project their personal feelings to it. Having said that, I recommend to anyone with an open mind and loves thrilling books to pick up this book and read it.
