As a science fiction buff, I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book, and recommend this to all the fantasy/SciFi fans out there. It takes you to a place where the senses are elevated, as the reader can experience these elevated sensual moments vicariously.

The protagonist follows in the footsteps of his uncle who had mysteriously disappeared, and his inquisitive mind, his willingness to take the actions to explore, his attention to detail, and his meticulous thinking lead him to discover a world of mystery and a level of existence where all the senses are amplified.

I tend to care about the characters in the books that I read who earn my respect ‌via the intelligence in the way their mind computes data and the actions they take consecutively. At one point in the book, before venturing out into the great unknown, the protagonist demonstrates to the reader his tenacity and attention to detail by not simply taking the documents he had discovered to his room and putting them in the safety box, but by the way he stops by the business center on the way to his hotel. Then, in order to assuage his growing suspicions, he makes photocopies of the papers that have been stashed in the deposit box for him. He takes one of the hotel's envelopes, places the copies inside, addresses the envelope to himself, and buys the correct postage at the front desk, and boom, he covered himself completely.

This book also invites the reader into the world of foreign cultures, specifically Russian, and the various nuances associated with that culture, so the reader will find this science fiction, informative as well as entertaining, as most fantasy/SciFi books tend to be.

The book will tap into the voyeuristic side of the reader as there are deeply sensual moments, amplified in this fantasy world, and you will want to read this book to get the details on that. Overall, it is a book that I found genuinely enjoyable to read, the intrigue and the plot twists are ample and continuous and will keep the reader turn the pages.

The analytical mind of the protagonist leads the reader to feel like they are in a detective movie, following clues, uncovering secrets, and then immersing into a fantasy world that might make one go back to again and again, which nicely ties with the overall construction of this book, as it will incite excitement and pique the curiosity of the reader enough to eagerly wait for the next installment and/or a sequel to the adventures, as they escape reality within the pages of this book and explore different realms within the same planet.

I rate it 3 out of 4.
