Review by tawongaL -- We are Voulhire: Someone Else's End
Trouble is something people tend not to look for, yet for the unlucky number of people in this world, it seems to always be tracking them down. In We are Voulhire: Someone Else’s End by Matthew Tysz, we see three companions constantly discovering a fourth companion in trouble wherever they decide to go.
We are Voulhire: Someone Else’s End is the third book in the series: ‘We are Voulhire’. In this book, we find no main protagonist nor antagonist, but a number of characters that tie up the book into one large story. Just like in music, we have different voices such as; auto, bass, tenor, baritone and soprano, bringing different melodies to a song and giving it its complete beauty and serenity, so are the characters of this book.
Nartik and Galen are two of the characters that Matthew Tysz brings to life in this book. These two men are two sides of the same coin. One is an intelligent and conniving soldier and the latter being a young man with a pure, brave, naïve heart. They may have prominent strong characters that bring the book to life, but so do the others! Consequently, I could neither pick a favourite character, nor one I detested the most. Matthew Tysz makes you fall in love with everyone of the characters.
When I had begun the book, I had no idea it was the third book of its series. I was lost at first, but soon because of the descriptive and powerful writing style of the author, I quickly caught up! I followed the story and soon discovered that it was a song of a ‘storm brewing’ in the future of that world. My adrenaline kept rising higher at each turn of each page, not realizing the author would not at one point give me the slightest idea of what was coming. My curiosity led me to read the book in one sitting and left me eager to read the next book in the series.
I was so in love with the characters and the plot of the story, but that did not stop me from noticing that the book had the most flawless grammar and editing I have seen so far. At a point, I blamed it on my fascination of the story being told, that I begun to read through the book again in search of mistakes. I found none! Needless to say, this is what I loved most about the book.
Even though the book has profane language, the author integrated it so well that I did not find it offensive and but actually funny. I am sure that none of you, who will read this book, will be offended. As a result of the language not being able to pinch me the wrong way, I can confidently say that I did not detest anything about the book.
Finally, I am now going to rate this book 4 out of 4 stars because everything about it is amazingly flawless and deserves this rating. I would love everyone to read this book because it’s a must read, but because of the type of language content, I refer this book to the adult population. This is only because I do not support young people being exposed to profane language, even if it is funny. With that being said, I am now one of the biggest fans of the ‘We are Voulhire’ series and I am inviting you to read this book and join our fun club.
