Review by tawongaL -- The Stolen Heir by Tayma Tameem
When you think of war, your spirit leads you to two parties that fight for what they believe so intensely that they give their lives for it. But has it ever occurred to you that a war takes more than just lives? Stolen Heir; book one by Tayma Tameen is the first book in its series. It opens our eyes to the real casualties of war through the eyes of young Erik in a fascinating story of two kingdoms that have been experiencing war for more than seventeen years.
Throughout the book, we see Erik survive every day using his ardent passion for vengeance to keep him alive. He soon discovers that he is different from everyone else and not just another defenseless child thrown on the streets because of a protracted war. Although his new strengths are promising, they raise numerous questions. Why is he different? Do his abilities make him a target? Or will they help him exact his revenge? You will have to read the book to find out.
What I love most about this book is the silent intelligence of the antagonist who pulls the strings with such creativity that no one seems to trace anything back to him until it's too late. Tayma Tameen has created a world so vivid in Stolen Heir; book one that completely takes your focus off the mundane realities of our lives. The author’s description of this magical and tragic world brings the characters to life in such a captivating manner. Needless to say, it took my breath away and I couldn’t pinpoint anything I completely disliked about the book.
Despite the flawless creativity entangled in the book, it has some errors here and there. Suggesting that the book needs to be re-edited once more by a professional. As a result, I rate this book 3 out of 4 stars because it truly is an expectational book. I decided against 4 out of 4 stars only due to the minor editing errors and 2 out of 4 stars because that would do a disservice to the book and its brilliant author.
Though the book is a story of war and pain, it has no profanity enclosed in its chapters. I recommend this book to anyone who loves reading thrillers. Trust me, picking this book up will not be a mistake. I look forward to reading the next book in the series.
