Have you ever been puzzled about what happens to your consciousness when you sleep? Where does it drift to? How about dreams; what do they really are, how is it that some people barely remember them on waking up while some people would remember and they are constantly disturbed by it? Worldlines a science fantasy novel by Adam Guest who tries both scientifically and theoretically to explain the above mysteries basing its story on the life of Gary Jackson who is the leading character, and the people he closely interacts and related to. The author takes us through his life experiences several worlds.

The protagonist at first instance is living his life as a university physics student, who escaped by a whisker being overrun by an 18 wheeler lorry, he also has a girlfriend called Michelle Peyton. In the consequent world, he has actually been involved in the accident and having lifelong injuries that make him suffer rejection from his dad, he is also engaged to Sinead O’Brien who is her best friend in the other world. This comes into his realization as he continues to experiment with lucid dreaming, where he commits a crime that is also seen by Sinead’s mother while she is probably hallucinating due to dementia. This kind of haunts him and he begins to find a solution to the other representation of himself in the other world with the help of his lecture professor Buzzard and his other colleagues. They argue that the many-worlds maybe be infinite in number. Is that really possible? Find out from the book.

The 400 standards paged the book has a well-written plot with the different words occurring in the 24 chapters interchangeably, its characterization was simple and easy to grasp, as I was able to remember all of the characters throughout my reading. Some chapter had sub-headlines which marked the drift between the worlds thus tuning me into it.

The book was surely a thrilling one to read, I enjoyed flipping the pages throughout my reading, what I loved most about the book was the vivid descriptions of the events, for instance during the physics lectures as they are trying to give sense to the many-worlds theory, I find myself deeply rooted into the discussion and most interestingly I understand what they are trying to insinuate. He has also largely used the style of suspense. The reading left me with many unanswered questions, and I feel like reading the next novel on many worlds to be able to join in the stories. Although I disliked the repeated description of certain places and incidences; like what happens at the train station, it did not hinder my reading.

I did not find any usage of profane words neither was there any erotic scene. Though I met a number of grammatical errors that would make me believe that the book was not professionally edited.

I, therefore, choose not to give it a full rating; 3 out of 4 stars . He has also largely used the style of suspense. The reading left me with many unanswered questions, and I feel like reading the next novel on many worlds to be able to join in the stories. I would recommend this book to lovers of science, and to the fiction readers as it’s really captivating.

I love physics and the plot of this book is centered around the idea of parallel worlds. I think I will take this one up on my next review selection.
