Review by Tummie26 -- Worldlines by Adam Guest
I just read an amazing novel though my first idea of it was wrong but I must say it is really outstanding and it's a must read. The name of the novel is Worldlines by Adam Guest and it is a sci-fi fantasy based novel. It consists of 24 chapters. The novel displays a fictional story that takes place based on the idea of worldlines which scientifically originates in physics and was pioneered by Hermann Minkowski. The term is now most often used different theories.
Gary Jackson a 21 year old disabled Lucid dreamer. Deserted by friends since the accident and the only friends he has are online friends, Sinead his girlfriend and Sinead's family. He is born and raised in Birtchtree Estate, he is 6 foot 2 iches in height and slightly underweight at 140 lb. He has nothing much in life and he is a long term mental health patient who has been receiving treatment for depression and post - traumatic stress disorder since he was run over by the lorry. Gary Jackson is not in good terms with his family since the event that took place between him and his sister and he was kicked out of the house. Certain events take place but in a shocking manner. The events take place in Gary's life between worldlines, the other worldline he has the perfect life he was supposed to have if he was never hit by the lorry on his way to the exam. On the other worldline he fantasised about killing a woman for turning her down and the other Gary is facing serious charges of murder in the other worldline. He realised and got an understanding about the events that have been taking place in his life when his mother inlaw with dementia claims to have seen him murdering a young lady. Will Gary Jackson be able to save the other Gary in a different worldline sitting in prison and waiting to be convicted for first degree murder .
Honestly speaking, I cannot believe what I just read because it took alot of concentration to understand and flow with this book. I had to re-read 5 chapters to fully understand what the content is about, I think it's because am not a scientific person and it's my first time being aware of such a hypothesis therefore I found the concept confusing. The novel was slow paced the first 200 pages. I nearly gave up the book thinking its nosense but this book is enthralling to read. I honestly loved this book despite that I disliked the writing style of the author which is simple but not so engaging or appealing to read unless the reader gives the whole sentence full mind and concentration. This novel made me curious to a point whereby I paused and googled about many worldlines theory to see if it's something that exists. This novel fried my mind and gave me shocking sensations. Despite the fact that I struggled to flow and grasp what the book is about, the author knows exactly what he is talking about because the content is indeed quality and corresponds to the title of the book. I cannot argue with the fact that this novel is entertaining but I feel the ending was not satisfying. I feel the ending is disappointing because it's been left for the reader to fill in the details.
The book does contain little profane words such as "dickhead" on page 31 and "ugly bastard" on page 35. Also the book contains little erotic scenes on page 35 where the characters are described to be "leaning over to kiss". I did not notice any errors while reading this novel. I have researched a little bit on the theory of many worlds to get a better understanding while reading the book. I came to the conclusion that the author did a great job with descriptions and the way he related the scientific theories was outstanding. The story was structured well and the correlation of wordlines was superb. My favourite character is Sinead because she is supportive and she always had Gary's back in all circumstances.
I rate this book a 4 out of 4 stars. Despite the fact that I feel the writing style was not appealing to read though simple, but I have loved this novel and I have acquired knowledge of something I didn't know about, theory of many worldlines. I appreciate the author a lot for compiling this amazing work and If it wasn't for this novel I could have never known about many worldlines theory therefore I have rated it as a 4 out of 4 stars. In addition the content correponds to the title of the book and the book was well edited. I recommend this book to sci-fi or fantasy lovers and those who are science fanatics.
