Steel Reign by Braxton A. Cosby

Steel Reign by Braxton A. Cosby is a science fiction novel talking about a creature called Steel Reign. Haunted by the memories of his dark past, and concerned about the DX virus flowing in his veins, Steel has to find a way to rescue his sister Olia, who is trapped on The Eclipse, a spaceship owned by Forge, a very dangerous space pirate.
Steel has to save his sister before it’s too late, he receives help from his new team which includes Gifford, a tech boy who knows how to hack in anything and has access to mostly any information. Jeffrey, who’s also known as Stink, their pilot who has a special skill called telenotioning, the ability to see things ahead of time, and Serias, Steel’s ex-lover!! Together, the 4 of them face many obstacles, trying to reach to The Eclipse, where Steel finally finds out that he could take Forge and his spaceship down by some way that needs focusing.
But wait, there’s another reason for Steel to rescue his sister Olia, but what is it?

This book was such an interesting one for me to read. Steel Reign is a very good protagonist. The thorough description of the characters was helpful to let you imagine them in your mind. The AI mentioned in the story is quite unique and beautiful. Also, the author has used a good way of suspense so that readers don’t get bored.

Despite the story’s good plot, I found the way the writer chose to write digits instead of numbers was quite annoying. It looks both weird, and sometimes confusing since the story is from the first character’s point of view. So I had to make sure what I read was an I not a 1.

Also, the story has got a few typos, which really didn’t catch much of my attention. But I still think that the author has to re-proofread and edit his book. Moreover, the story somehow has long detailed parts which made it more complex to understand what is going on.

My favorite thing about this book was how the author started by an exciting prologue that later makes the readers curious to know how Steel reached to that point. Also, I like how the author added flashbacks to the characters POV. Plus that the ending was tricky, which I loved the most. The book doesn’t contain any erotic acts, however, it has references to these acts. It also has a plenty of cursing and informal language.

I rate this book 3 out of 4 ,since it wasn’t professionally edited and it has some complex details. If it was well edited, I guess that will improve the story and the reader’s experience reading this book. If you are a fan of Space fantasy and Science Fiction thrillers, you should read this book!!
