Review by Ayat Mohammad -- Daisy's Run by Scott Baron
Daisy’s Run , by Scott Baron
Daisy’s Run by the author Scott Baron, is a science fiction story talking about a technical expert, called Daisy, who was woken from a very long cryo-sleep by a cyborg. It was 6 months earlier than expected. Daisy and her crew mates had to work together to fix a problem on the Vali, their ship. Daisy found Barry, the cyborg on the ship, extremely weird and creepy. Maybe it was her disliking of robots and AI machines that made her feel that way. But Barry was such a nosy cyborg which made her kind of uncomfortable. Throughout the days, Daisy discovers more about her crew mates who were mechanically enhanced humans. The more she knew, the more she realized something wrong was going on. When she figures it out, she wants to quickly warn the Earth, but when she tries to do it, she gets surprised for the second time. Later, she realizes that her fast reaction was such a stupid mistake, and that she should’ve listened to the others before getting herself into more troubles.
This book is the first book in The Clockwork Chimera series by writer Scott Baron. The idea and events of the book got me amazed and really wanting to know what will happen next. The spectacular unique style and way of writing the author had used was really good. When I finished the book, I immediately looked for Part two in the series, Pushing Daisy .
What I liked most about the book were the characters and the plot. It was easy to make up a visual picture of them in your brain. The plot reminds me of a movie I’ve watched before, but this story is far more exciting. It is well edited, containing no grammatical or spelling mistakes.
What I disliked was the complex terms and detailed parts. It somehow confused me, but I understood them later. Also, the erotic content the story had wasn’t really necessary to include. Moreover, there was a lack of physical description about the characters.
Finally, I rate this book 4 out of 4 ,because the ending was quite unexpected and the idea was outstanding. I recommend this book for audiences who like science fiction and fantasy stories, but I don’t suggest it to people who are underaged due to the adult content it contains. I’m happy to say that I literally loved this book and enjoyed reading it, and I think you readers will too!! I will immediately go read the other parts!! Scott Baron did an amazing job writing this
