[Following is a volunteer review of "Daisy's Run" by Scott Baron.]

[rwc=id347643-125]4 out of 4 stars.[/rwc]Daisy’s Run by Scott Baron is a futuristic Sci-Fi genre that will capture the readers’ attention from the first chapter. The first book in the Clockwork Chimera series follows the life of Daisy, a young women who finds herself being woken up from a deep cyrogenic sleep months before she was supposed to; only to discover the spaceship she’s on is in danger and she must help put out the literal and figurative fire. As you follow Daisy’s adventure through space you come to discover that all may not be as it seems; starting with small discoveries that the ship may not be as new as once thought, minor malfunctions, an Artificial Intelligence (AI) who seems to be acting on her own, and a cyborg who appears wherever she happens to be.

When Daisy uncovers startling new evidence that the rest of the crew is covering up something major, she takes action into her own hands, including stealing a small shuttle and a reunion on Earth that leads to more questions than answers. Daisy must decide who is telling the truth and how far is she willing to go to get the answers she wants.

This was my first Sci-Fi/Fantasy series and I could not applaud Scott Baron more. This book completely captured my attention within pages and I had a difficult time putting it down. I loved how Baron was able to keep the book interesting with many plot twists so you never knew what could happen, but Baron was also able to answer some questions so you could make sense of some of the problems that arise. You were able to get a feel of all the characters and what they were like and their role in the story.

One downside to Daisy’s Run was the jargon that got used to describe some of the mechanical sides of the story, it could be difficult to understand especially if it was your first Sci-Fi/Fantasy genre or if you were a younger audience. I found myself having to reread sections in order to fully understand what they were talking about. There were also some scenes that I would consider inappropriate for anyone under age 15 as well as some expletive language throughout the novel.

I would rate Daisy’s Run 3 out of 4 stars only because of the occasional foul language and inappropriate scenes. I absolutely fell in love with this book and have nothing but good things to say about it. I would recommend this book to anyone who may be interested in reading a Sci-Fi genre for the first time or as a young adult genre because even though there were some inappropriate scenes I think that this would be the kind of book that could get students excited and interested in reading and will allow them to open their mind to more genres.
