We Are Voulhire A New Arrival Under Great Sky by Mathew Tysz. Emperor Lullabies a wise and wicked ruler of a vast and powerful nation, suspects conspiracy against him by his four sons who all have a legitimate claim to his throne according to their traditions. He decides to give each of the princes’ a chain of islands to rule away from the mainland of his empire. Galen Bray travels from the land of the Princes to Voulhire, to claim his inheritance left to him by his long lost late uncle. He leaves the land of the Princes where life is hard because of the wars between the Princes. Galen Bray has no intention of returning to the land of the Princes. Galen Bray arrives at Magnum Caelum and finds it a magnificent city. Galen decides to become a blacksmith like his late uncle was.
Judge Eldus Alderman is promoted by King of Voulhire, King Wilhelm to become the new lord of Hillport succeeding Lord Orlin and the feared mage, Lord Meldorath. Lord Meldorath is not pleased with king’s decision to relieve him of his duties and decides to form an alliance with the king’s enemies Riva Rohavi, which leads to disaster for the town of Hillport and the newly appointed Lord Eldus Alderman and his family.
We Are Voulhire A New Arrival Under The Great Sky, is a fantasy and fiction story and would be most appealing to young adults and readers who love reading about magic. There is no use of strong language in the book, which makes the book readable by children. I like the many different characters in the book with each having their own story. This makes the book appealing to a wide range of readers. Though the story has many different characters with different stories, I dislike most the fact that most of them remain un-concluded in this series.
I would rate the story 3 out 4 because the book is a mixture of reality and fiction. The story ends in tragedy and the writer manages to conclude it in an unexpected ending which was very creative. It is entertaining and I would very much want to read the next series. I did not rate it 4 out of 4 because the story is rather short and most parts of it remain un-concluded. The story is set out in a period, were people travel using carriages and horses, but some of the words used in the story do not relate that period but to current modern day. Words such as fucked page 57, bitch page 106, daddy page 57 used by Roan.
