““Control, initiate emergency lockdown, we have a containment breach, repeat, we have a containment breach, we have Creatures on board!””
Doctor Walter Smithton, a bioengineering scientist, is known to follow the works of Doctor Demetrius Zayack's work, who is the creator of the human killing creatures. Doctor Smithton has developed and given life to creatures opposite in nature than that of Doctor Zayack - the Zayans.
Smithton is called upon by the military to find ways to kill the creatures of Zayack in space and prevent any further massacre. Knowing Zayans and their capabilities, will he be able to manage the parallel experiments? Will he be able to kill the creatures before they kill the human race?

In the book Containment Breach by Wm. A. Yandall, Doctor Smithton, the protagonist, is a bioengineering scientist working in a research facility, creating and developing synthetic life forms in secrecy when he is called upon by the military. He is scared for his secret experiment to fall out into the hands of the military and being shut down. But the military has concerns of its own, they are looking for the perfect set of brains to help them out with an experiment gone wrong. Smithton and his group of three are ordered to find a way to eradicate the “human killing” creatures and ensure that the creature don’t out smart them and make it to earth. The task at hand seems to be rather difficult as the creatures seem to be having higher intelligence in coping and reflecting than any human.

The things that I disliked were that the author used a ‘no chapter’ format, meaning that the book was not separated into chapters and seemed to be a long running story and causes confusion and one has to refer to the last page to continue from where he left. Also, the beginning of the book made no sense even as a stand-alone section and had no connection with the story that followed. Even though the descriptions provided by the author were accurate enough, I found the description of the creatures not enough to give an understanding of it, it playing a major part in the story. Other than these, I found the novel to be having a few minor grammatical issues.

Now to the things that I liked, I liked how the story rolled out and each scene was precisely sequenced to make sense and provide a gripping storyline. The characters were introduced well, had well defined personality and descriptions were to the point, the conversations were very realistic and even the side characters were given equal importance. It was amazing as to how the author unravels the mystery and creates suspense at the same time, there were moments of shock, dismay, hatred and even humour that the reader could relate and engage to. And the politics between the two-the military and the alliance - was well thought and the execution was put out so well that the reader is forced to think a step ahead just like the characters. The best part of novel has to be the climax, it was cinematic to the core.

In all, even though there were a few issues, they could be over-looked by the amazing plot, characters, and the writing style of the author. I give the Containment Breach, 3 out of 4 stars. If you’re into science fiction, then you would love this work by WM. A. Yandall.
