The Surgeon's Wife by William H. Cole

The Surgeon's Wife is a romance story centered around Michael and Catherine. Michael Boudreaux is a professional medical practitioner, and the Chief of Surgeon at the University Hospital in New Orleans.
In the story, Michael falls in love with his mentor and partner's wife, Catherine. Catherine loves him as sincerely as he loves her, but their love and hopes for the future, is doomed by the anger, viciousness and pride of Catherine's husband, Clayton.

Clayton's pride and quest for vengeance destroys his family, his relationship with his daughter, and soon his career and life. While Catherine struggles to survive and change the course of her life, her daughter, Melissa seeks and finds happiness outside New Orleans, while Michael provides the support and strength the women never had.

The novel tells the story of love and life, and how sometimes, happiness can be found outside the walls of wealth and privilege. It also, illustrated what is sometimes the circumstances surrounding divorce, and it's aftermath in some societies, using the character of Catherine. Forgiveness is one of the themes in the novel and is portrayed, in the joy of Catherine at seeing her daughter happy.

However, The Surgeon's Wife has a lot of spelling errors, omissions, word and symbol mixes. It also makes use of medical terms. For readers who are not well versed in such terms, the jumbled words and missing letters, would prove a difficulty while reading and trying to comphrend what the author wants to say, as it was for me. Since the spelling errors were constant, it made reading the novel, a slow process. It also left me, guessing for the right words intended by the author and they therefore became a distraction.
I also, noticed that the page numbers were constantly repeated. The novel is not 114 pages, but 167 pages including the title, table of contents, list of books written by the author and illustrations.

I would recommend, a careful revision and editing of the novel to correct spelling errors. The book is interesting and enjoyable.
I give it 3 out of 4, because of the spelling mistakes, and I further recommend the book to lovers of romantic and medical fiction.
