[rbc=3]id156166-125[/rbc]From the title of the book, we could see that the book was centred around Sarah, a young teenage orphan. She had just been brought to live with her grandfather by her grand mum. She then had to go camping with her grandfather and his friend and his friend’s daughter, a trip that had already been planned before Sarah arrived.

The story was set on camp as most of the events or happenings in the book was during the camp. This include the travel both in spring and during summer. However, for many parts of the book, the author made us concentrate more on Sarah and her stories than the others.

In addition, the style of writing was chronological and very easy to understand even though the book was more of an ancient historian book thereby making it sometimes boring especially if one is not used to history works. The language was equally simple and clear enough for an average reader.

For me, my best part of the book was Sarah’s story. Her strong heart I could really reckon with. She made the story and the entire journey very much adventurous. I liked the fact that Sarah always believed in what she saw and dreamt about. She was never going to let go whether the others believed her or not. She was indeed a very strong hearted child. I could see at the end that everyone learnt from such a child like her.

However, I did not like the fact that she was very temperamental which ended up causing them to lose the Atlatl. Because Tom, her grandfather did not believe that she had seen the beer and drawn it, she was angered and went missing for eight days. She was able to hide the precious atlatl that even though she later found it, they were attacked and the atlatl was destroyed. This kind of made their search and journey very fruitless indeed.

While reading this book, I came across some themes which also serves as moral lessons to me personally. One very obvious of all of them is the theme of strength and faith. All through the story, Sarah demonstrated her strength. First of all, even though she did not like camping, she found some strength especially when Tom, her grand-father told her the story of her great-grand-father. Then, she saw the short-faced beer and drew it. Also in her journey through her dream, she was the youngest of them all in the boat on that journey, but she was the strongest of all of them of which made them to give her the name, Strong Heart. She was strong and always good at everything she did. She also believed in everything she did no matter the perceptions around her. With her strength also, she was able to save her team from being shot by Rogers and Raymond.

In addition, despite the bruises and pain she had during their first camping, she was strong enough even as a child to come back with them, determined to help them find the atlatl. She risked her life and helped to get back the treasure from where it was hidden. She was never prepared to give up no matter the circumstance.

Another was the theme of collective will. Even though they were all aware of the danger that lies ahead of them especially with the patrol team around, they still wanted to keep on with their search to find the missing atlatl. They collectively agreed for the same cause which was to get the atlatl for proper data.

Although the book told a good story, I was not expecting the story to end the way it did. I wanted to know what then became of Sarah and many more. It was all adventurous and very captivating to read.

"I rate this book 3 out of 4 stars". This is because I did not like the ending at all. Maybe it would have been better if the story had ended in a better way. Also, I will only recommend this book to persons who like history and lots of adventure. It’s not a bad book at all. I’m sure that anyone may still read and find pleasure in reading it.
