Strong Heart by Charlie Sheldon.
Seeing his ex-wise Ruth at his front door was an unexpected site for Tom. What he never imagined was finding out he has a 13 year old granddaughter from his daughter who had died years ago. Ruth thought Sarah was too much for her to handle, and so she was left with her grandfather to deal with.
Tom and his friends; William and his daughter Myra were preparing to go on a hiking trip to visit Tom's grandfather's grave before Ruth and Sarah arrived. Sarah obviously did not want to be there and she did nothing to hide that fact. With Sarah present, Tom thought of postponing his trip, but william wouldn't let him, convincing him to bring sarah along with them. Tom did not like the idea and of course neither did sarah. She wouldn't go into the middle of nowhere with people she did not know, but she had no other option but to.
Throughout the journey to the grave site, sarah did not hide the fact that she was not happy being there. She whined through the journey up. I could only imagine sarah's mood on the way there and a part that really got me was when she fell into a stream while trying to cross it. I almost rolled on the floor laughing while trying to imagine her reaction after the incident. The author really got the expression there; 'soaked, she marched back down the trail, fast, head up, arms swinging'. Even writing it now, i can picture the scene again

After sarah's disappearance during the trip, Tom and his friends already set their hearts for the worst. Tom wouldn't give up on finding his granddaughter even if she gave him a really tough time throughout the trip. Eight days later, Sarah suddenly appears out of nowhere with the most impossible and mind blowing stories possible. No one could believe what they heard.
I really enjoyed reading this book, it kept me thinking of what sarah had really gone through and how mysterious her experience through those eight days was. I was also able to learn a little of ancient times and what the early man must have been like.
I rate this book 3 out of 4 stars. Although i enjoyed reading the book, the begining was a little off for me. The sentence construction, the sudden pauses between the setences almost made it seem unprofessional. But i really wished to know the mystery within sarah's experience and how magical the park was, and i did. Strong heart is definitely worth a read.
