"Cross Intents: The Baptism" by Scott Wells is a well-told and intentionally layered story that combines history and spirituality. The book presents fantasy and biblical events in a fresh and compelling approach that beautifully tells the story of Christ's life. "Cross Intents" is a uniquely written book. The opening of this thrilling book draws me in as it opens to the war taking place in heaven due to the rebellion of Lucifer and his followers.

The author beautifully merges spirituality with a perfect blend of imagination within the divine realm. I found Elric as a character very relatable, despite him being an angel; his doubt, willingness to learn, and the weight he carries are relatable and very much human. The war scenes are vividly described. The violence is well depicted without being gory. The theme of power is well discussed with the story of Herod in the book, who is overly driven by power, and the book shows how haunting and twisted power can be. Other themes in the book are kindness and spirituality.

The author knows his scripture, and his knowledge of the Bible is shown in his imaginative exploration, which gave way to structured world-building.

I love a lot of things about this book, starting from the structure and the tone to how it came to life. The book opens with a tone that grabs my attention, thanks to its impressive narrative, vivid world-building, and serious and tension-laced tone. I appreciate that the author didn’t water down the stakes and maintained the same progression throughout the book.

There is nothing I dislike about this book. As someone of a different faith, I love reading books that have a wonderful explanation of the scripture without being overly religious or preachy.

"Cross Intent" is an amazing book. I found no errors while reading; it is a powerful narrative about the spiritual war that surrounds humanity, the cost of disobedience, and the beauty in God’s promise. I’ll give this book a complete 5 out of 5 stars rating because it truly earned it. I will wholeheartedly recommend it to readers who love Christian-based narratives with creative storytelling.
