Review of Cross Intents
The birth of Jesus Christ is of great significance to Christian history. Cross Intents by Scott Wells retells the events before, during, and after Jesus Christ's birth, emphasizing minor details that most books overlook. You will meet renowned biblical characters and understand their role in fulfilling God's plan of salvation. The book will challenge your spirituality, faith, resilience, belief in God's promises, and knowledge of the Holy Bible. The time for the promised one to enter the physical realm is here, a reality that the world's rulers detest. The 'King' and his opponents must adequately prepare for this ground-breaking event. However, no one knows how, where, or when it will occur. How will they proceed with their plans? Grab a copy of this book and find out.
The book begins with a tense scene, where two groups of angels confront each other. We are introduced to three different realms where different events occur to characters in various places and times. You will travel to ancient Roman cities like Bethlehem, Jerusalem, and Nazareth, learning more about their religious practices, such as marriage and burials. Many characters are introduced randomly throughout the book, but since the book has a simple storyline, you will easily understand their roles. There are a few characters that intrigued me. First, the relationship between Benjamin and Rachael is admirable. The unexpected rise of Benjamin to power will teach you something about honesty and integrity, yet the tragedy that befell Rachael's family will move you to tears. It was not my first time reading about Mary and Joseph, but there is more to their story in this book. You will gain a better understanding of the relationship between Mary, Joseph, Zacharias, and Elizabeth, and the renowned lineage of King David.
Here are the aspects of the book that I loved. First, although this is a biblical story, the author does not specify which Bible version to use. I had the liberty to use a version of my choice when I needed to do a confirmation. Second, the inclusion of biblical passages and quotes without changing their original meanings or messages adds credibility to this book. Third, this is not a new story to me, but the author managed to add mystery and suspense to it. Several plot twists will keep you hooked from beginning to end. Fourth, the book is well arranged into chapters with captivating headlines. Scott is a skilled storyteller who uses vivid descriptions to describe every character, scene, and action, giving an experience similar to witnessing these events firsthand. Lastly, the simple language used to write this book makes it accessible to a wide audience.
There is nothing I disliked about this book. The editing team did well; the few errors I encountered did not interfere with my reading. I rate this book five out of five stars because it is insightful and entertaining. I recommend this book to Christian enthusiasts.
