Review of Gypsy for God
In “Gypsy for God” by Yvonne M Morgan, Kathleen was forced into early retirement because she did not want to travel to a distant location to keep her job. She was at a critical point in her life, not knowing what life had in store for her after early retirement. While going through this challenging period with her husband, Sam, an idea to travel on vacation came up. Could this be the beginning of a new chapter in her life?
This book spoke to me in many ways. First, I connected with Kathleen’s struggles to figure out her next move in life. She was so open and sincere that almost anyone could relate to her struggles. I imagined retiring from a job I’d done all my life earlier than planned. Anyone, including me, would struggle with that. Secondly, Kathleen’s path to finding her purpose in life, albeit through her faith in God, was palpable. So many people who talk about finding your purpose in God usually shroud it in mysteries that many people struggle to understand. However, through Kathleen’s journey, I could understand the simplicity of finding my purpose in God. Her conversations with Pastor John helped me understand better how the Holy Spirit worked to help a believer fulfill their God-giving purpose.
I liked that this book shed light on some societal issues. One of these issues was child trafficking. The book did not just x-ray child trafficking; readers would learn the core signs that show a child is in danger of being trafficked. The book listed seven signs (you should read the book to get more details).
This book was written in the first person. For a moment, I thought the author was writing her memoir. I was amazed when I saw that the protagonist’s name differed from the author’s. It takes creativity to tell another person’s story like it is yours.
I tried to find a fault in the book’s content but failed. The work that went into writing and publishing it was excellent. I confidently give this book a 5 out of 5. The book has its core foundation in Christianity. However, open-minded readers can still benefit from the life lessons in it.
