Review of The Struggle for Justice and Truth
The Struggle for Justice and Truth by Tomas Cudzis is something quite special, really the unprecedented literary ode to the creations of Linkin Park. It is a pretty ambitious project that combines the lyrics of this band with a story that should reflect the emotional depth and intensity of their music. The protagonist, Tomas, embarks on a journey of self-discovery and justice in a world full of conflict and turmoil within his head. The story is built based on song themes from Linkin Park; the characters take a path in which Tomas's transformation and struggle are felt.
The author pays homage to this huge influence by giving an account similar to that of the music of the band. This book offers the readers the story as a multisensory journey and invites the listeners to hear recommendations for songs in order to come closer. This creative mix of music and literature opens a new perspective on the storytelling process to true readers, fans of the band Linkin Park, and connoisseurs of fresh styles of narration. I highly recommend this book to fans of Linkin Park and music enthusiasts alike.
That which impresses me most in this book is the engaging use made of Tomas Cudzis's character while tracing some pretty complex psychological themes. It is through this inner conflict and identity crisis that the story deals with the battle going on within Tomas-between his conscience, personified through this DI figure, and his internalized fears and desires. This duality offers a glimpse that is far more engaging into the complexities of the human psyche as Tomas wrestles between his moral compass and darker impulses. A trip to China and the clashes he has with a host of adversaries reflect changes in his mind, while his encounter with the character of Felicity and brooding over Bruce Lee and Arnold Schwarzenegger complete the circle of his inner journey. This novel is engraved in Tomas's psychic battles for self-understanding and makes this one of those truly unforgettable books.
I gave this book a solid 5 out of 5 stars, other than the minor issue of some of the dialogue sounding a little forced or too formal at times, especially between Tomas and some of the other characters, such as Violetta. This can take away a bit from how realistic their interactions feel.
Additionally, more natural speech patterns will help to reveal the nature and relationships of characters and create more emotional resonance in readers. It is my opinion that realistic dialogue would further deepen that into a more relatable world with even more dynamic characters. Despite this small flaw, its strengths shine well enough in this book to make it engaging. This book is very well edited, with no errors to speak of.
