"The Maple Seed Helicopter" by Marco Collina

The story starts with the author's time spent as an orphan when he was a little kid. Marco, Dario, and Isabella's daring efforts to avoid the nuns' disgusting meal create an intriguing opening scene. The children, oblivious to the fact that there are other methods to sate their hunger, go on a quest to raid orphanage storehouses that contain "rich foods" that suit their taste. They broke into the storehouses, ate in the corridor, and destroyed evidence that may incriminate them.

The children in the story work well, and their teamwork turns into kindness towards Isabella, a little girl whose parents passed away when she was four years old.

Despite their unpleasant upbringing, the lads in this novel were able to cling to positive memories and fantasies, which in turn stoked their appetite for adventure and patriotism.
Everything changes for the three boys when they run away to play in the river one day.

I couldn't tear my eyes away from this book. The narrative is fascinating, and the delivery pulls you in. I get the impression that the author is trying to stress how fate is always at work and how, eventually, you will figure things out. However, it caused me pain because Marco constantly appeared to be rushing away from himself, yearning for something better. I enjoyed many things in this book. It shows the significance of loyalty, friendship, effort, and, most of all, that your family is the one that loves and supports you in any scenario. The narrative focuses on themes of survival, camaraderie, innocence, and the consequences of war on children. It balances the harsh reality of orphanage life with moments of childlike wonder and creativity. The maple seed helicopter serves as a repeating emblem of innocence and the capacity to find delight in simple things. The author successfully conveyed a feeling of joy and wonder at various key moments throughout the book. It is extremely nice that a reading accomplishes that. It should be emphasized that Marco narrates his tale and that of his companions from when they were youngsters until their maturity. There are various situations in the plot that were not explored and were terminated suddenly. I would have wanted certain subplots to be better explored. I must also mention that I discovered facts in history that sounded impossible to me.

This book is suited for all audiences. For people who appreciate adventure tales, I suggest this book. For readers who are troubled by incomplete narratives or dramatic shifts, I suggest abstaining and seeking other titles. I am delighted to say that this book is extremely professionally edited.

In summary, it is a terrific and interesting novel. An engaging and well-crafted book that surprisingly left a few plot threads unresolved. A more full development of the conclusion or one more by the manner of the tale that was being developed would have been fair for this book. It is for these reasons that I awarded it a rating of 5 out of 5 stars. The Maple Seed Helicopter, as such, references children's creativity, and I thought that was amazing.
