The book Magic Bridge by Tom Wheeler is a story of a man’s journey to finding faith. With biblical as well as religious references, it tells of a transition from despair and unbelief to destiny and purpose. Aiden is a man who is lost and trapped in a constant current of grief and depression. Having lived the last decade experiencing heart-shattering events, he yearns for an escape and finally gives in to the twisted voice in his head.

Crushed by the weight of guilt and blood on his hands, he spirals into dark tunnels and sinks deeper into the darkness with nothing but broken dreams and lost hope as companions. Now tired of his dreary life, he embarks on a journey far from home, seeking to find a mythical bridge and, just maybe, a little bit of magic. This book will take you on a journey with its characters, send you into the excitement of suspense, and leave you with a rollercoaster of emotions.

I greatly enjoyed this book and took my time to ponder on the concepts and questions explored in it. I found myself not only enlightened but also occasionally questioning the answers given in its pages. The book is filled with colorful conversations that cause an introspection into one’s own life. Also, Aiden’s experiences and loss stir the emotions of the reader, as I found myself feeling sadness at his ordeals and, at times, hope with every glimmer of light that appeared in his journey. It is relatable as it somehow connects to the minds of the reader and reaches deep, unearthing questions many have on faith and the unseen God. Furthermore, I like the book because I was able to enjoy it as a suspenseful, very engrossing, and interesting book. The book was exceptionally well-edited and error-free.

I do not dislike anything about the book, as it captured my undivided attention through my hours of reading. I did not dislike anything in it; rather, I enjoyed my reading immensely. The book features a theme of loss that not only hovers on the loss of loved ones but also transcends to a loss of innocence, love, and hope. In expressing this theme, the writer goes beyond Aiden, the protagonist, to the characters of Xavier, Natalia, and Parker. One very impressive character is Xavier, whose story and development the writer reveals what a lack of love in family and society can create out of a once-innocent child.

I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars because of the book was an amazing read. I enjoyed every bit of it; it was suspenseful and engaging. I just could not put the book down. Aiden’s experiences and loss got to me, making me ask some questions about my faith. This is one book I will read repeatedly and never get tired of it. I would recommend this book to those on a journey seeking faith or purpose and those who have questions about their faith.
