When a retired CIA director, his wife, and a few other agents are killed at a retirement party. The Intelligence Agency finds themselves in an odd predicament, as there is only one clue that they have that may help them with this homicide, and that is the assassination of eleven collectors worldwide. Director Tobias Jacobson must find a way to solve this mysterious murder before their agency becomes a laughing stock, and he assigns three of his female agents to try to find the killer. Will they be able to succeed in their mission? Will they be able to find their killer with just a biblical verse and some security footage taken from the victims home? How is the retired CIA connected to the murders of the eleven collectors that have also been killed? Follow Agents Shaar, Flores, and White as they face life-threatening situations to uncover the face of a killer. In another part of the world, England to be precise, Tara, a taro card reader, finds herself terrified and on the run after meeting Cordélien Quildas Philémon LeQuellec, a rich collector of Michelangelo's drawings. Shortly after meeting, drinking, and having snacks with him, he was murdered, but what perplexes her is the fact that he seems to know a lot about her despite the fact that they only met once. She must find a way to return to England before being captured by the French police and taken into custody. How will she manage her escape? Will she get the help that she seeks from Ghost, a man she has done a reading for in the past, and will she finally get the answers that she seeks from LeQuellec through his videos? Join Tara as she struggles to face the fate that she has been dealt with and finds out that she may not be who she thinks she is, but someone whose destiny may be entwined with a previous life.

Best Enemy, written by Jean-Michel Désiré, is a phenomenal historical thriller. The book begins with a brief introduction of Theresa, the lady now in charge of Haven after the death of Ramon Garcia, and she gives us a sneak peek as to what we can expect within the novel. Thereafter, the real story begins with the start of the death of a retired CIA director, his wife, and multiple CIA agents, and then begins the adventure of Tara, a tarot card reader, into the unknown.

I found the book to be quite captivating, and I loved the way that the author uses illustrations in the book, and this can be seen when Tara gazes upon Michelangelo's paintings at the mansion of Cordélien Quildas Philémon LeQuellec.

There was nothing to dislike about the book. It was quite vividly detailed, and I thoroughly enjoyed the historic lessons that have been mentioned throughout the book. I also admire the way that the author has taken the time to provide the reader with a breakout of the different terminology used throughout the book at the end of each chapter. I, however, did encounter a few errors while reading; hence, I rate the book a 4 out of 5.

The book contains profanity, violence, sexual content, blood, and gore. It is not for sensitive readers. Although the book does surround the faith of Christianity, it is extremely fascinating to read, and it is an absolute thriller.
