"The Miracle Ladies" by Jean-Michel Desire is a captivating journey that blends historical fiction with mystical elements, creating a narrative that is both engaging and thought-provoking. The story, set in 1641 China, follows Chen Sing, an elite Imperial Soldier tasked with a secret mission by Emperor Zhu Youjian. The vivid descriptions of Chen Sing's perilous journey back to the Imperial Palace, coupled with the unfolding mystery he carries, drew me in.

The narrative grips with its blend of suspense and intrigue. Peter receives an unexpected call from an agent involved in a complex scenario involving miraculous events and high-stakes power plays. The tension heightens as the caller reveals the elimination of key figures, Bernhard and Paul, and his subsequent control over two "Miracle Ladies." The antagonist’s unsettling confidence and knowledge of the saints' names lend a sinister air, contrasting with Peter’s mounting desperation.

The plot thickens with the secretive gathering of nine men around the temple’s pools in Delhi. Each man, disguised among locals, wears a T-shirt inscribed with synonyms for miracle,' equipped with hidden electronic circuitry. Under the leadership of Peter, they prepare for a mission involving high stakes and precise coordination, bound by a sinister fail-safe in case of treason. The intricate identification ritual using historical references ensures their secrecy.

Ramon wakes up in a bamboo hut, disoriented and in pain, with a note from Theresa saying he's in Tartarus as punishment. He sees a tiger outside and closes the door. Ghost, hiding from soldiers, recalls his past and plans to return to the U.S. to uncover mysteries. Krystelle and Guillermo, now in Jerusalem, reflect on the miracles they witnessed and their significance. They notice familiar figures, hinting at new revelations.

The book skillfully weaves themes of loyalty, faith, and the supernatural, making it a compelling read. Each chapter is meticulously crafted, ensuring the story flows seamlessly from one event to the next. The historical context adds depth to the characters and the plot, while the mystical elements keep the reader guessing. Overall, this book is a masterful blend of history and magic; it kept me hooked from start to finish. That's why I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars. Readers who enjoy a blend of mystery, supernatural phenomena, and religious intrigue, along with a keen interest in esoteric topics and historical enigmas, will find "The Miracle Ladies" a captivating read. I found no dislikes in this book, and the book's editing was impeccable.
