John K. Danenbarger's "Entanglement - Quantum and Otherwise" is a dark and poignant book about lives that cross paths with troubled pasts. The narrative begins with Geena Nuss learning of her father's passing through a letter from an old family acquaintance named Joe Tink. Startled and unsettled, Geena muses over her conflicting emotions towards her mother, Beth, a former prostitute, and her father, Kevin. Former stripper Joe had come to Beth's rescue when she had given up on life. The story develops through beautifully crafted text, illuminating each character's complex emotional issues and entanglements.

The pacing problems in this book are why I don't enjoy it. The repeated changes in viewpoint and time can be upsetting. For instance, the narrative unexpectedly shifted back to Beth's history just as I was starting to get invested in Geena's storyline, which broke the flow and made it difficult to keep interested.

I'll give this book a rating of 4 out of 5 stars. The plot is made more interesting and appealing by the rich characters with deep backstories and captivating prose. But because of the pacing problems—which arise from numerous changes in time and perspective—I'm taking away a star. I recommend this book to readers who enjoy character-driven stories with deep emotional depth and intricate backstories. This book was exceptionally edited.
