Hunger of the Pine by Teal Swan is a book that depicts the harsh life of someone who grows up without parents or a real home. This is a fiction book and is the story of Aria Abbott, who was taken into the system at a young age. She is taken to live with a family, but circumstances force Aria to run off, and she is left with almost nothing, living in the streets. This is not the typical life a teenager should be exposed to, but this is the life that Aria finds herself living. Soon, Aria meets Taylor, and together they head for Los Angeles. What does the future have in store for Aria? Pick up this interesting book and find out immediately.

In this book, I could feel the hurt, neglect, and quest for survival. The first positive feature this book has is the author’s ability to showcase emotions and feelings. In this book, emotions are clearly expressed, so anyone who reads the story will be immediately connected to the characters. I also like how the book has predominantly positive themes, and these are survival and hope. I admire how Aria found the strength to keep going, even when I thought that everything was too much for her to handle.

I was reminded through this book that there is always a spark of light in every kind of circumstance. Aria's courageous decisions are enough to prove this to me. I do not know what it means to not have a home or to grow up without parents, but this book made me realize that there are many people’s plights that are sympathetic, and one has to appreciate the privilege of any home that one has that is in a good situation both physically and emotionally.

I did not dislike anything about this book, and I only found two errors in it. It was professionally edited. Therefore, I am rating it 5 out of 5 stars. I recommend the book to people who like sensational thrillers.
