Review of Searching for Jimmy Page
Searching for Jimmy Page by Christy Alexander Hallberg is a novel that tells the story of Luna, a young girl who feels lost in life after losing her mother and having doubts about her father's identity. Join Luna on her adventure that takes her from the United States to London to find her supposed father, the one and only Jimmy Page.
This book was a very insightful read. I enjoyed every minute of it. The way the author managed to capture emotions and put them on paper still amazes me. While listening to the audiobook, I got emotional a few times. I especially liked how Luna’s chase was resolved at the end of the book. I was hoping the whole time that it would not end in a cheesy way, and while the ending was pretty heartbreaking, it was definitely the perfect way to do it. I don’t want to give anything away from the story, but I loved how realistic everything was, especially Luna’s encounter with Jimmy.
I can honestly say that I liked everything about this story. I have zero complaints. I have to give a big shout-out to Melissa Connell, the narrator of the audiobook. Her voice was soothing and expressive. She was definitely the perfect choice for this type of emotional narration. Plus, her American and British accents were top-notch! There were no errors in the narration at all, so I can definitely say that the book is exceptionally well edited.
I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars. The story is raw and emotional. Luna is the perfect embodiment of a lost teenager who still doesn’t know who she really is and is trying to find answers in the most absurd circumstances. I love that the book ends with hope for a new beginning, even if Luna doesn’t get the answers she was looking for. I liked that a lot.
I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to feel something strong while reading a story. I would also recommend listening to the audiobook version to fully experience it.
