There is a famous Led Zeppelin song called Stairway to Heaven and the singer, Robert Plant on the live album , The Song Remains the Same , introduces it , " as a song of hope". This is what immediately came to my mind when reading The Vine. Its a book containing nothing less than a hundred per cent positivity. The eclectic mixture of writers is extremely clever. Yes you would expect contributions from religious leaders but this book lends an authenticity because of the eclectic mix of contributors from a diverse background. There are contributions from mountaineers right through to architects.
The words of wisdom in this book should be compulsory reading for all politicians, world leaders but also, it should be a compulsory reading text in schools for all children. Yes, William Shakespeare has his place in literature but unless children are actively given access to these types of books then the message(s) will be lost . They will merely be words with no positive or any outcomes whatsoever.
This book saddens me in the knowledge that as long as there is prejudice and an overarching emphasis on making a " quick buck" the sentiments will never become reality and the book will only ever remain " a book of hope".
The writers should be given a massive pat on the back . The writing is sublime .
I would have no hesitation in grading this as a 5 out of 5 book.
