"The Vine" is about giving hope to people in the bad times. I have read different genres like romance, fiction, horror etc., but interestingly in this book, I read many stories given by various people about hope. From His Excellency Sheikh Nahayan bin Mubarak Al Nahaya to actor Djimon Hounsou, every story is unique. Hope for individual people comes in different ways and with different meanings. In this book, a person found hope in humanity, for one it is love that provides hope. Another opinion is that hope is just a notion but still, we should hold to hope because life is meaning less without hope. There are many stories and the experience I felt an incident shared by Brad Bandy is somewhat heart-touching, it almost made me cry. I particularly liked the story given by Dr Andre Thomas which is quite fascinating to learn about how powerful hope can be and how it helps to survive longer not only for humans but also the other living beings. The book is full of good and interesting experiences.
The author’s effort greatly is appreciable in creativity and collection of information from various sources around the globe during the pandemic. However, I feel that book was not edited carefully. There are several errors both spelling as well as grammatical mistakes. I agree that no book can be of zero mistakes, but I also believe that it is very important for an author to proofread and edit the manuscript before publishing particularly when it is open for public readings. For example, “We made it, but not before a few more of us were beat up” (should be beaten up). Another example is “Though (through is the actual spelling) the Ichikowitz Family Foundation, we have been able to encourage, support, and fund efforts to tell the (the not needed) great stories”. After seeing many errors for a moment, I thought that maybe, the author intended to keep the original content from the source as much as possible. Later, I realized that thorough revision and proofreading of the document was not done which led to a decrease in the quality of the book.
After an in-depth reading of this book, I would rate the book 3 out of 5 ratings. Though the content and idea of the book are good, it will not give a pleasant experience to proficient readers due to poor quality with regard to grammar and spelling.
