Man Mission: Four Men, Fifteen Years, One Epic Journey by Eytan Uliel is a novel that tells the story of the author and his three friends, Daniel, Alec, and Sam. While in law school, they mostly talked about escaping somewhere they would not be obliged to follow daily routines. Sam invited Uliel on a trip to New Zealand three years after their first meeting. He accepted, and the two went hiking in New Zealand. Uliel experienced challenges in New Zealand that forced him to abandon the trip. Annual trips to exotic places became a routine for the friends for fifteen years, and they went to different countries each year. Even though the book concentrates mainly on the trips, readers also get a glimpse of the professional and private lives of the four friends.

I liked everything about this book. The author’s writing style is very engaging, and I was constantly on my seat to see how the journey of the four men went. The author described the scenes vividly that it was easy to imagine them. I felt like I was watching the aurora with the four men in Iceland. I also laughed a lot when the author’s friends laughed at him. The scenes were funny. I couldn’t read them without joining the laughter. My favorite character is Alec. He didn’t give in to the peer pressure of getting married in his 20s like his friends. He is also a very determined man. He kept working hard and believing that he would achieve his dreams despite failing severally. Initially, his friends thought he was lost, but in the end, they admired his life.

I didn't find anything to dislike about this book. However, I felt bad for the narrator when he constantly felt like a failure, even though he is successful in many people’s eyes. His rock bottom moment was the saddest part of this book for me.

I didn’t find any spelling or grammar errors in this book. The story was written perfectly, and I think the book was well-edited. For those reasons, I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars.

I recommend this book to everyone who likes reading travelogue books. It is a well-told story of leisure activities like hiking, kayaking, bike riding, and ice climbing, perfect for adventure lovers. I don’t recommend it to younger readers because of the curse words used in the book and the theme of sex.
