I thought the story of Owen Cloud in the book "Sip Lake" was generally nicely conceived, but I found the elaboration a bit less. I often lost my way while reading the book. Then I had to read back because I felt like I had missed a part. But then found out that that was not the case. The author simply chose to end a sentence in a certain situation and started in a completely different situation in the next one. I found this very confusing at times. To solve this, the author could have made clearer chapter divisions. For example, it might be easier to understand the book if the chapters are based on locations; chapter 1 takes place at Owen's work, chapter 2 while he is fishing, chapter 3 in his car, etc.

One aspect I did really like was that the book is set in 1977. Certain objects and music that occur in the story are named with lots of details. I liked this very much because I myself did not live during this time. Because of this it was a lot easier for me to really 'see' what the book would look like if it would come to life.

I found it difficult to finish reading this book and maintain my attention. Nevertheless, it is not a bad book, but it is just not the writing style I like.

I also came across a few editing errors, but this did not bother me while reading the book.

To that end, I give this book 3 out of 5 stars. It is a nice story about Owen's life; he meets many people and with them therre are many encounters. However, I still maintain that I did not enjoy reading it, because of the confusion. I just could not get in the 'flow', while reading.

I don’t know what to think about this book. On the one hand, I am more than a little interested in finding out about Owen’s life and the people he meets. On the other hand, the story seems to be confusing in its organization.
