Michelle Cummings’ novel, The Reel Sisters, has 411 pages and 10 sections. It is a book that delves into a unique sport called fly fishing, which brings five women—Sophie, Rose, Veronica, Amanda, and Melody—together as they make memories while doing what they love.

The book opens with Sophie explaining the intricacies of this sport while looking forward to a weekend getaway with her friends, putting the issues of real life behind them as they enjoy the thrill of fly fishing. Initially starting as a pack of 4, which eventually became a pack of 5, when the youngest of the women, Melody, was rescued from an accident that almost claimed her life, Will the addition of Melody be a blessing or a curse? Will they regret letting her join them? Will fly fishing have a positive or negative impact on their lives?

It's an interesting and educational book by Michelle Cummings called The Reel Sisters. The name is so fitting as it tells us about five different women of varying ages, each of them with unique characters. Rose, who is the mother hen of the group, and Sophie, who loved to tell anyone who cared to listen and teach anyone who cared to learn about fly fishing; Veronica, who was a typical 9-5 worker; Amanda, the working mom; and Melody, who was just different from the rest. The author made it a pleasant read as she delved into the lives of each of the women, making us see life from their individual perspectives. Each character had a part that was just right for them. I liked Rose the most out of all the characters because she reminds me of my mother, reprimanding me when necessary and showering me with so much love as well.

Since I thoroughly enjoyed this book, I have no complaints to make about it. The entire novel is interesting and keeps you on the edge of your seat; it is a total page-turner. Additionally, it was incredibly fun and educational, as I learned a lot about fly fishing. It also had a bit of romance. The dialogue and character analysis were both spot-on. This book was exceptionally well edited, and for these reasons, I give it a rating of 5 out of 5 stars.

If you like fishing or are looking for new hobbies to try out with your friends, I suggest you read this book. I believe it will be enjoyable for those who prefer to learn new things while enjoying the company of friends.
