« Man Mission » is an organization composed of 4 Australian friends, all men. Its objective is to plan and execute a weekly adventure every year. Because the organization is not sophisticated, it has only ten flexible rules. And one of the four men has the most crucial role: the “Organizer”. Once the destination is chosen, he does all the necessary planning. Rule number one states “Men only”. Wives or partners can object to the choice of the destination but can’t go. The same interdiction applies to kids.
Rule number 3 states:” Travel under your own power” but each adventure begins with a trip (most of the time a flight) from Australia to the chosen country. In fifteen years of kayaking, hiking, trekking, and cycling for the most part, “Man Mission” can be both a solution, a sacrifice, a dream, a problem, and a test. Adventure is made of uncertainty but that brings friendship even closer than ever.
I liked how Mr. Eytan Uliel shows the main character's weaknesses from the beginning to the end. Except from a financial standpoint, his humility is an invitation to go for an adventure, beyond one's comfort zone. This book contains lessons and quotes. No goal can be fulfilled easily. Like “Man Mission”, life itself is a trip, an adventure. Both of them can be dangerous and can bring excitement and happiness. That’s why we need family and friends around us.
There is nothing I dislike about this book. I would love to see pictures or video links. At the same time, I respect his choice. I would also like to know if those were real-life experiences or not. Yes seems to be the correct answer but it is not a certainty.
“Man Mission” earns easily 5 out of 5 stars first because of excellent editing. It goes well behind being a book. It narrates hustle, commitment, and resilience. Men will surely enjoy reading this book and can easily recognize themselves as one of the four characters. But I recommend “Man Mission” to women who want to understand men’s general perspective.
