Review of McDowell
McDowell by William H. Coles is an interesting novel that gives an exploit on a certain famous and ambitious surgeon called Hiram McDowell and his polygamous family. In his book, William tells the story of how this surgeon saves many lives through his skill and training. The book has two parts with seventy-two chapters, each part containing thirty-six chapters in a concise and comprehensive simple English language. The first part gives a general overview of Hiram McDowell's prospectus and his family background, while the second part gives a detailed account of his fate after his successful ambition was achieved and the resultant condition of his family.
Hiram McDowell, the chief protagonist of this book, is a successful and ambitious surgeon who contests and wins the presidential position of the International College of Surgeons as a member. Despite the promise he made to Michael O. Leary, who helped him win the election, he turned him down and gave it to Tom instead. As a sequel to Michael's plot of mesmerizing him, which led to his imprisonment, it leads to his doom. Again, the author added that Hiram McDowell married three wives and had five children—four girls and a boy—and the accounts of each child were also narrated. To know more, get your copy.
The positive aspects of this book that I like are numerous, but I will mention a few. The author's choice of style makes the plot fascinating and interesting, keeping the reader in suspense and wanting to know the next line of action. This book is written in a simplified and well-organized, clear English language with no ambiguity. Again, each chapter doesn't have too many pages.
This book taught me to keep promises because he who is capable of making the person has the ability to destroy them as well. It helped me realize that children's upbringing goes beyond financial services but is all-encompassing. I learned that Hiram, though a famous and successful man, lived a wayward life and couldn't perfect his parental training, which led to his children's miserable lives.
This book contains a few profane words, but despite that, I didn't in any way dislike the book. This book didn't contain any grammatical or spelling errors, which shows that it was professionally edited. Given the aforementioned justifications, I didn't find a cause to lower the rating, so I'm awarding it a rating of 5 out of 5 stars. I recommend this book to all married and potential couples. I also recommend it to the youth, as this book has a lot to teach them.
