JTs World by E. Alan Fleischauer contains the typical western-style shenanigans found in a western-style book. The book begins with a mysterious, cold-blooded murder occurring just before the opening of an amusement park. Immediately the reader is hooked as the murder occurs in the most unexpected of places in the amusement park. From the first scene, the author builds tension and suspicion as the main character, John Thurgood Thomas, also known as JT, and his friends follow up on this peculiar case. The amusement park, named JT’s World after JT, has now been tainted by the murder, and the opening is delayed. Finding the killer is the most important thing at this point, but will they be able to do it? One has to read the book to find out.

The book contains several detailed, action-packed sequences. The author does not hesitate to write the scenes in a very detailed way, giving the reader room to imagine what the scenes might have looked like. The series of events after the murder are fast-paced, and at no point in the book is action lacking. With the help of his friends, JT manages to overcome many hurdles and keep going despite his past. As he makes new friends and enemies along the way, he can grow as a person, as can his other endeavors. Surviving is the only option in this wild west landscape.

I enjoyed reading this book mainly because of the action scenes. The author does a decent job of building them up so readers can easily picture them. Several of the fight scenes take place in a saloon, a nod to many other western-style fictions that have come before this one. I liked this about the book. I also liked the pacing of the book. I found that the book consistently flows from one scene to another. Every scene interacts with every other scene cohesively. The characters have been fleshed out with interesting backstories and are fascinating to read about.

There are several heartwarming scenes in the book. The relationships between the characters show positive themes such as loyalty, love, and friendship, which was pleasantly surprising despite some of the darker aspects of this book. There are also darker themes, such as violence and murder, in the book.

I give this book five out of five stars as it remained entertaining throughout my whole reading experience. This rating is also because I did not find any grammatical errors, and the book seems to be exceptionally well-edited. I would recommend this book to any adult reader looking for a western-style novel, as the book contains several instances of profanity and violence.
