JT’s World by E. Alan Fleischauer is a western style novel that opens with a gruesome murder in the main character John Thurgood’s park. He is often known as JT to his friends. This murder occurred right before the park’s opening and sets off a chain of events that progress throughout the rest of the book. The murder is suspicious not only in the way it occurred but within the first few moments of it occurring, and the reader is left with a weird feeling that the deceased might have been involved in something dangerous. This sets a good premise for the story that follows afterward.

The story immediately pulls the reader into this wild world of murder, suspicion, adventure, love, and betrayal; there is an unexpected twist at every corner. The book does not shy away from action-packed shenanigans but in the center of the story, finding the killer is of utmost importance. Throughout the story, the reader interacts with JT’s new and old friends as we follow him in his quests. This is seemingly a significant hurdle that he will have to surpass, and it only remains to be seen whether he will overcome it.

I really enjoyed the pacing of the book. The story flowed well, and the ending was satisfactory. I enjoyed the way the author wrote the characters. They were interesting to read about and interact with as a reader. The fight scenes are also incredibly detailed. The author provides the most descriptive and vivid explanations for the structure of these scenes. This helped with imagining how these scenes would look if they were happening right in front of me in real time, and I immensely enjoyed this aspect of the book. The book can exist as a standalone novel, as there are others in the series, so everyone should pick it up. I did not dislike anything about the book.

The book has darker themes, such as murder, violence, betrayal, and death. These themes could be distressing to some potential readers, so if there are any that might be affected, then they should not pick it up. There are some lighter themes in the book, such as love, friendship, loyalty, and justice, so this might encourage reading the book.

I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars as I genuinely enjoyed reading it. I also found no grammatical errors, and the book seems exceptionally well-edited. I recommend this book to readers who like action-packed books with a western themed style.
