Cynthia and Dan: Cyber War is a book by Dorothy Mercer. This book narrates an online war embarked upon by Glenn Patterson, who ran a private investigation company, to protect the United States of America from attack by the enemies of the country. The book also centered around Cynthia Patterson, his sister, who provided Glenn with some workers for the cyber war. Cynthia’s love life with Dan, a cop, as well as her budding relationship with Sky, a mystery man she had just met, was also narrated.

I loved the plot of this book. Some scenes did not make sense but I think the turnout of events was fantastic. Most especially, I loved the suspense that came with figuring out who Sky was and also the thrill that came with discovering his true identity. I also loved the fact that the writer used easy-to-understand words. The book was perfectly edited so I had no issues with errors. The writer did a good job making sure that there were no errors in the book. I appreciated the fact that Dorothy gave us a warning before writing the smut scenes. It was quite thoughtful.

I felt some scenes were quite unrealistic. For instance, in the scene where Mr. Eastman and Cynthia met. I felt in a normal day scenario, Cynthia would not have followed a strange man she hadn’t met before to his room. Everything about their first meeting made me cringe. Their second meeting also left me speechless where she had just finished crying for Dan and then a few minutes later, she was seen talking about contraceptives and abortion pills with Sky. I also did not appreciate the numerous cuss words scattered around the book. A few would have been okay. I also felt that the book would trigger certain emotions from the Muslims. For instance, the mention of the Islamic terrorist groups and some of the crimes they committed may have been offensive to Muslims.

I rate this book four out of five stars. I gave this rating because of the profanities and the unrealistic scenes in the book. I did not deduct any more stars because I enjoyed the book and was happy with the turnout of events.

I recommend Cynthia and Dan: Cyber War to those who are lovers of romance novels and I also recommend this book to those interested in cyber crimes and cyber wars.
