Review of The Unlikely Cowboy
The-Unlikely-Cowboy by James E. Doucette is a clever and intriguing story that reflects the flow of life’s paths and directions. Involving many different faucets, including people, places, and things that flow smoothly together into one small little place on the map. Joe, a New York office of many years, faced a final tough case, before taking the advice of an old army buddy to retire and move out to Texas. Losing both his wife and son within a short time, nothing was left in New York, the planning began.
The adventures of the small Texas town and cowboy living keeping things flowing. The opening of Joes gun repair shop, and the sign from a customer who wished for work that Joe being a cop, knew, was not positive intentions. Bluntly refusing but noticing something that brought back his last days as a New York Officer right in front of him way out in Texas. What dangers may arise for this small town, and Joe?
The writing of this story, memories of one’s travels, has been written keep you on your seat. Wondering what may happen on the next page, then the next chapter. The story line of each character, and how small the world can be in the shuffle of life is intriguingly written. Some exciting knowledge of the wonders of Texas life sparking adventure and danger all in one. The truth behind the good and the bad in the world written to a point of raw understanding. Based on true and gentle adjustments to places and names gave a glow within the book that makes you want to know more.
This is one story you enter feeling connected to the Characters very closely and personally. James E. Doucette reflection of his journey and those he knows is elegantly and brutally written to the point of perfection. The flow of each page keeping one holding one to see what the next chapter brings. I can honestly say that I could not locate a negative point throughout. A different style than what I usually read, and it was a pleasant journey.
I rate this book a 5 out of 5 stars. Its limited grammatical error points to it being professionally edited. With minimal errors, I stand by my rating. This is the making of a fantastic and interesting series of adventures, dangers, and how all our lives are ever so slightly connected. In reviewing, many key points cannot be shared, as it takes away the bliss and wonder of the reading. I would recommend this book those who are looking for life adventures, with facts of the dangers in the world, and a truth in the writing, this is it.
