It so happens in life that often we tend to be searching, mostly unconsciously for something which even we can't really put a finger to, never knowing exactly what it is and we have an innate feeling that acquiring it would lead to a more complete and fulfilling experience of life.John Thurgood Thomas, whom close friends and acquaintances call JT is a classic example of this phenomenon. Having recently tragically lost the love of his life Annabelle, immerses himself into the completion of JT's world, an amusement park he is building at his ranch the Ponderosa. As tragedies most often seem to come in quick succession, a tragic murder happens in the bowling alley at the ranch throwing JT's plans into disarray. At the insistence of his recently adopted daughter Madeline who by female instict senses that he needs to take time off and rediscover himself and blow off some steam, JT accompanies his ranch foreman,Buck on an errand to stock the ranch. This step leads JT into many adventures in the wild West where he finds himself in situations where he comes to an inch of losing his life, making new friends, acquaintances and a load of enemies too. Will this adventure turn out to be what JT needs to rediscover his true self or will it just be an errand after fools gold?

JT's world by E. Alan Fleischauer is a deep and well written story which takes the reader on a journey through the wild West, a land infested with outlaws, gunslingers, murderers, bank robbers and the occasional bounty hunter. The author makes a point in making every detail in the story as historically accurate as possible this being a historical fiction. Reading the book, the reader is awakened to a time past and with the author's proficiency in history convincing you that he is writting about characters who existed in flesh and blood. It is also written with clarity and conciseness with medium length chapters that tie flawlessly into each other leading to a clear flow in the story and enjoyable reading due to this formatting.

The only thing that irked me with JT's world by E. Alan Fleischauer is that JT is often potrayed as too lucky, with close dangerous encounters seeming to end up in his favour rather unconvincingly such as antagonists losing a battle with him just at the opportune time or someone coming to his aid rather unnatuarally leaving one scoffing at the predictability of the outcomes evoking a sense that the author was just trying to nicely tie up the loose ends of the story.

Even though I did not like that one aspect I still rate the book a solid 4 out of 5 stars. This is because the author has compensated this by frequently emphasising, though subtly, on JT's charm and charisma such that as the reader you fall effortlessly in love with his character and therefore making it easy to overlook his various minor shortcomings such as excessive drinking and this leads the reader into being persuaded to believe that even luck might be inclined to endearment to this larger than life character.

I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys an epic wild west story written in such a way that it quenches the reader's thirst for action as it is packed to the brim with interestingly written action scenes. I would however caution any reader that might be easily triggered into alcohol abuse as the book is prime with scenes of alcohol consumption which may be a trigger to anyone easily prone to drinking.

The book was well edited with very few grammatical errors.
