John Thurgood Thomas is a gentleman with new found wealth who is in the process of building a recreational center in the Arizona desert. On the grand opening day three people are murdered in the complex, leaving the owner devastated. His friends urge him to take a break. He finally decides to go on a trip to buy cattle for his new ranch. En route he encounters various types of people and finds himself in the middle of several adventures. He eventually returns home with his future bride.

He is JT to his friends. Spends his money lavishly in the building of his amusement park. Very much involved in the everyday affairs of the building site, he awaits the grand opening day with great anticipation. Unfortunately for him a woman is murdered brutally in the bowling alley of the complex, followed by two more killings in the bar. This leaves the owner perplexed and unsure of his next step he leaves for his nearby ranch. His adopted daughter and a few close friends urge him to take a break from his responsibilities. After much persuasion John finally decides to leave the supervision of the complex’s construction site in the hands of his daughter and agrees on a trip to Colorado to buy cattle for his ranch. He takes with him a few of his trusted ranch hands for support.

On the trail they meet Indians, gun toting hombres and various other people; some of whom he befriends. He readily risks himself for others, almost getting himself killed more than a couple of times during shootouts with outlaws. Ever the good samaritan he ends up helping more than a few people financially. Adventure seems to follow him at every turn on the trail and he often finds himself in hair raising situations. Luckily he meets a beautiful woman and it’s love at first sight. Even so he respects her feelings and leaves her alone when she is distressed about having her son almost kidnapped a second time. Eventually they return to Arizona bringing the cows with them.

E. Alan Fleischauer has created the ideal gentleman living in those difficult times. JT is a character with a conscience. Integrity and loyalty his strong points, generous to boot and brave; facing any situation head on. A rancher and businessman by profession, he even has a tender side to him which makes him endearing. The story is set in a time when one was never safe without guns for protection. Guns and booze aplenty, those were lawless times indeed in the wild west. A pinch of the supernatural too has been woven into the story befitting the times.

The author E. A. Fleischauer has set an amazing pace with impressive writing skills and the reader sure won’t be bored. His narrative provides a detailed background description of each new character introduced. Vividly described settings makes the reader feel as if he is really there. I specially enjoyed the defense strategy of the evil Gibbons twins and their slick lawyer Zamora. This is the first time I have read a western and I can honestly say that I enjoyed it very much. Even though it is the last in a series of books, it can be read as a standalone novel as the author points out important details from the earlier books. He brings the story to an apt ending.

If anything negative is to be said about the story, then it is the way too many killings and the vivid descriptions of the gruesome murders which could put off some readers. Maybe the hero’s adventures on the trail was a little too drawn out. Except for a few typing errors the story was very well edited and I give the book JTs World a rating of 4 out of 4 stars .

I recommend this book for people who enjoy novels packed with adventure, mystery and a good dash of romance. If you enjoy cowboy stories then this one is for you.
