In Sip Lake by Joseph Barasa, Owen Cloud was sitting in the office kitchen when he was approached by his colleague called Tina Gardenia having his midnight snack on the first night on the job. He had gotten the job recently in a hospital. Tina was also new to town, as she and her family had moved to New York from Rome. She worked night shifts because she took daytime classes from nursing school, while Owen had just graduated from Atlantic Sands University and was working his first job.

One of the most hilarious moments in the book was one time when Owen was doing his night shift, and he was asked to go check one of the patient’s temperature. The patient’s name was Rush Rivers. When Owen entered Rush’s room, he seemed offended as though someone was invading his privacy. Turns out the man was peeing while he drank water. Owen makes a joke that he wondered whether that was the meaning of “Sip-pee” from the famous lake’s name, “Sip Lake.”

I enjoyed reading the book. I liked the humor and sarcasm that made the book interesting with an amazing twist of fun. The book was also enlightening because it’s set up in a hospital. In a hospital like the one that was in the book, there are usually a huge number of people, each with different personalities and problems. This book made me realize that there are so many people who are out in situations they did not anticipate, and all they can do is be hopeful and pray it gets better. One such patient was Laura, who was always hopeful despite things not being great.

I do not have anything negative to say about the book. However, I spotted a few editorial mistakes while I was reading the book and I have highlighted those in my post-reviewer questionnaire. Therefore, I think this book was not well edited, although I felt like It was well written. I say this because the characters were well-developed and the plot of the book was well executed.

I would like to rate this book as 3 out of 4 stars . Furthermore, I would have given it a perfect score, but I removed one star because of the editorial errors that I noticed. Other than that, the book was interesting and humorous. I was not bored at all while reading it. The was also short and sweet. Some books can be enjoyable to read, but if they are too long, they become boring and less entertaining. I would like to recommend this book to people who enjoy hospital setup books. Anyone looking to pass the time could also find this a very worthy book to read.
