Sometimes when life happens to us, it either breaks us or makes us, especially when we have to deal with the loss of our loved ones. Hannah Mercer stars in Al Schnupp's Goods and Effects. Hannah Mercer decides to make a positive change and not give up on life. There are numerous lessons to be learned in this book, and it is critical to understand that unexpected events can occur in life. After the death of her family, Hannah Mercer began a route store that gave her the opportunity to meet and have encounters with people, also helping her to heal from the loss of her family.

Goods and Effects by Al Schnupp is a beautiful and interesting story about Hannah Mercer, who lost her husband and sons at the same time. She was devastated and heartbroken, adding to the deacon's telling her that her husband couldn't be given a church funeral. She had to run around and make sure her family got a satisfactory funeral. She went from selling her family house, then turning her husband’s truck into her house and a route store in her community, Adele. During her day-to-day activities, she met and had encounters with different people, like LeRoy the Hidden Musician, Darla the Deaf Artist, Vivian the Librarian, and Velma the Woodworker. She built relationships, touched lives and was also touched, and had so many life lessons to learn.

As I read, I was touched and motivated by Hannah Mercer's story. I journeyed through every bit of her life experience with her. The writer did exceptionally well trying to connect the readers so well to Hannah Mercer's story. If the author had written a screenplay for Goods and Effects, it would have been a beautiful and exceptional film; the story is an inspirational book, and her story would truly inspire some.

The fact that there was no table of contents or chapters in the book made it a bit difficult for me to navigate through this book. It is kind of a religious book that only Christians will have access to. I did not find any errors in this book.

The writer did a beautiful job. I would rate this book 4 out of 4 stars. I recommend this book to those who feel lonely or have lost a loved one. This book would definitely bring encouragement and hope from Hannah's story, so they wouldn't give up on life so easily.
