At the beginning of JT’s World, we find JT Thomas excitedly preparing to open an amusement park aptly named JT’s World. Unfortunately, things have taken a drastic turn. Some crimes of a gruesome nature have been committed, and JT worries that this will influence the opening of the park. Despite the plans, his daughter, Madeline, encourages JT to take a trip to Colorado with his ranch employees to clear his head and gain some perspective while she takes care of things. This story takes JT on a journey with his ranch employees to collect cattle for his ranch, and during their pursuit, they come across bounty hunters who are searching for a duo of murderers. They also meet a damsel in distress, Jessica, whom JT can’t resist helping.

I didn’t particularly enjoy reading this book. However, there were a few things I liked about this novel; the story of JT’s World had a dramatic opening scene with a murder and a lot of secrets being unfolded, which intrigued me. E. Alan Fleischauer was very descriptive and detailed in his storytelling, which I expected since I recently read and reviewed a book by the author named Just Die that I enjoyed. This book was also remarkably well written and edited and had some jaw-dropping moments.

Although the book was action-packed and well-written, some parts were hard to keep up with, especially with all the characters. Though I have never read a western-themed book before, I figured I would give it a try seeing as it was a murder mystery novel. However, the book was not what I expected. Based on the book description, I thought the book would have been centered on the mystery murder that took place at the amusement park. To my surprise and disappointment, that was not the case. The book was more about the journey JT took with his employees to retrieve the cattle. The more I read, the more I kept wondering what was happening back at the amusement park. I felt like the author tricked me with an astounding opening, and I had to keep reading, hoping to find out the answer. By the time the author got back to the story at the park, it was as if the crimes committed didn’t happen-there was no mention of what occurred or transpired where the crimes were concerned.

I rate this book 2 out of 4 stars. This book was the final book in the JT Thomas Western series, and there’s a possibility I would have enjoyed reading it more if I had read the other books. I also think the book was drawn out as a lot transpired throughout. It was an extensive and dense story, which made it a bit uninteresting.

This book is suitable for individuals who love action-packed western stories.
