The arrow that flies by the day is a book whose title is phrased from a verse in the Bible to comfort John. John Thaddeus has been featured as a character that has a series of problems; he has a broken foot, the death of his parents while still young and fears death when deployed as a marine. Through these hard times, Sister Francis becomes of aid. She is a nun as well as John's high school principal. The old nun pays John's tuition fee and supports him emotionally. John one day shows up at a football training camp where he hopes to chase his dream as a kicker. He is so determined that despite the long distance he walks on foot to the NFL camp. The head coach is impressed by his skill and takes him in. Nonetheless, he is exempted from the team due to lack of experience despite his unmatched skills. As luck may have it, the team's kicker is injured and John is absorbed automatically.

John Servant is a conscious writer; he is skilled in jotting down his carefully done research on the sport he uses in the book. His explanation of American footballer is professional and he makes the reader interested to learn more about the game. He does it so well that one could assume he is an American football player. Secondly, he has a reputable command for the contrast-the ideology of his Christian molded ways and his response to confrontation while at NFL camp.

Furthermore, the book is a fascinating source to teach people about the Bible and inculcate moral values. John’s uncontrolled anger and fights in school are symbolic of the irritability of people in case of circumstantial frustration. John's mother having to work extra hours to maintain living standards highlights the theme of parental obligation.

I would recommend the book to individuals who find American football interesting since it contains a lot of subject matter on the same. The book is resourceful in teaching for Christians more so in the Catholic domain also will love this one. The book has contents of a Christian way of life of prayer and references from the Bible.

In conclusion, I enjoyed reading the book despite the book having few errors; dialogues are not complete and could easily confuse the reader. The writer has employed the use of vivid description thereby creating the reader a mental picture. I, therefore, rate the book three out of four stars.
