Burly is a book written by Paul Drewitt. It centers around a group of friends who did everything together and carried each other along regardless of the financial status of their families. This book covers an in-depth look on the troubles teenagers face while growing up to become adults.

This story talks more about the past; Sam's past. He had time to make personal recollections of all he did in his teenage years and the memories he shared with his friends. This story made me realize that it is very important we live our lives in full in our youthful years, so we can have sweet memories when we get older. Our personal experience could also pass as a story which we will tell to our own children and advise them on the path to take in their own journey from their teenage years to adulthood.

The author presented this story in simple language and made it relatable to all who have gone through their teenage years. I was glued to this story from beginning to the end, because it personally gave me nostalgic flashes of what my teenage years was like. Anyone would enjoy this story because it brings back to memory the silly things we do as teenagers, the mistakes, the fun and love we share.

Another thing I love about this story is that it was presented using the first person pronoun. In my opinion, I think this presentation makes it more easy to relate to the person's experience. This book goes further to explain the challenges some teenagers face in the hands of their parents. Sometimes, parents want their children to live up to their own dreams without allowing them to decide what they want to do for themselves, and some children who try to please their parents and live up to a dream they themselves(the parents)did not achieve in their time end up being sad in their life. I believe each child should be allowed to make their own choice under proper guidance.

I’ll rate this book 3 out of 4 stars because it was a fantastic story and it showed the importance of friendship and togetherness as I would not like to give any spoilers. I noticed some typographical errors in this book which indicates that it was not well edited. I would recommend this book to those who love BMX biking, all book lovers, and teenagers preparing for their journey to adulthood.
